Modified Triangle Method to Estimate Soil Moisture Status with Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (modis) Products

چکیده
Soil moisture condition is one of the key parameters in environmental and agricultural modeling. In this paper, a modified triangle method (Ts/VI space) is suggested. Both NDVI and EVI are used in constructing the space. Based on this method we calculated the Temperature-Vegetation Dryness Index (TVDI) using 20 MODIS images (Land surface temperature and vegetation index products) to estimate the soil moisture condition in Northern China Plain. In situ moisture data from 133 agricultural stations are used to validate the TVDI. Finally, the relationship between TVDI and rainfall is examined. We found that the triangle method can be a fast and simple method to estimate regional soil moisture conditions. * Corresponding author. Downscaling GLDAS Soil Moisture Data in East Asia through Fusion of Multi-Sensors by Optimizing Modified Regression Trees
Soil moisture is a key part of Earth’s climate systems, including agricultural and hydrological cycles. Soil moisture data from satellite and numerical models is typically provided at a global scale with coarse spatial resolution, which is not enough for local and regional applications. In this study, a soil moisture downscaling model was developed using satellite-derived variables targeting Gl...

A synergistic fusion of the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) L2 soil moisture with the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS)-derived land surface temperature (LST) and several water/vegetation indices for agricultural drought monitoring was tested. The rationale of the calculation is based on the inverse relationship between LST and vegetation condition, related in turn w...

Passive microwave sensors have many advantages including the ability to directly measured soil moisture at large spatial scales regardless of weather conditions or time of day. However, microwave-sensed soil moisture’s inevitable limitation is that it cannot describe hydrology at the watershed because its retrieved soil moisture scale is too large. Thus, microwave-sensed soil moisture requires ...

[1] The evaluation of the relationship between satellitederived vegetation indices (normalized difference vegetation index and normalized difference water index) and soil moisture improves our understanding of how these indices respond to soil moisture fluctuations. Soil moisture deficits are ultimately tied to drought stress on plants. The diverse terrain and climate of Oklahoma, the extensive...
